O'FALLON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's water polo team will open up their inaugural 2022 season on Saturday, February 12 when they hit the road to take on the McKendree Bearcats in each team's season opener.

The Vikings enter the season ranked No. 4 in the latest CWPA DIII poll after beginning the year just outside the top five. Augie is also receiving votes in the DIII national rankings and have earned votes each of the three weeks the poll has been out.

McKendree finished the 2021 season with a 2-7 record after dropping their final seven games following a 2-0 start. The Bearcats were tabbed to finish eighth in the 2022 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) preseason coaches' poll. This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, with Augie set to host the Bearcats in mid-March.
