DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will step out of CCIW action on Wednesday, December 7 when they take on the Dubuque Spartans on the road.

Augie improved to 2-5 on the season following a 68-58 win over Millikin on Saturday in front of packed crowd. The Vikings put together a 15-4 scoring in the middle of the opening half to stretch their first-half margin to as many as 13 before taking an 11-point lead into the break. The Big Blue notched the first six points of the second half, but were never able to catch up as the Vikings held a double-digit advantage for most of the second half. Daniel Carr was the game's high scorer with 17 points, followed closely behind by Chase Larsen with 15. Anthony Cooper also added 11 off the bench, connecting on three of his five three-point attempts. As a team, the Vikings hit 44 percent of their field goals and tied a season-best with 10 made threes. Augie held Millikin to just 35 percent from the floor and 10.5 percent (2-19) from behind the arc.

Carr enters the week ranked first in NCAA DIII in three-point percentage (61.3) and tied for eighth in both rebounds per game (12.0) and double-doubles (5).

The Spartans of Dubuque current sit at 6-2 on the season, recently suffering a loss to Central College to end their six-game win streak after beginning the year with a loss. The Spartans have split a pair of games this season against fellow CCIW schools, falling to North Central before defeating Carroll in early November. All but two of the team's eight games this season have been decided by double figures. The Spartans are 1-0 at home this season, defeating Buena Vista by a score of 76-60.

Augustana is 9-2 all-time against Dubuque, winning their most recent meeting at home in 2021-22. The Vikings defeated the No. 16 ranked Spartans by a score of 80-64. Carr had 16 points and nine rebounds to help lead Augustana to the win.
