ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will return to the Carver Center on Saturday, December 3 when they welcome in the Millikin Big Blue for a conference showdown.

The Vikings (1-5) are coming off a road loss to No. 21 Wheaton on Wednesday, falling by a score of 75-61. Augie found themselves in a double-digit hole early on, but stormed back with a late first-half push to trim the deficit to just a point heading into halftime. The Vikings claimed their first lead of the contest to begin the second half, but the Thunder took it back it quickly and slowly cushioned their advantage into double figures. The Vikings saw a balanced effort on offense in the game as nine different players tallied at least two points Daniel Carr led the way with a team-high 17 points to go with nine rebounds, while Matt Hawkins tied a career high with 16 points on 7-8 shooting in just 18 minutes of action. Matt Hanushewsky added nine points and four assists. As a team, Augustana shot 44 percent overall and 36 percent from behind the three-point line. Wheaton finished above 50 percent in both categories, which included 10 makes from downtown.

Millikin enters the weekend sporting a 5-2 overall record and 0-1 mark in conference action. The Big Blue have dropped two of their last three outings after beginning the season 4-0. Millikin was defeated in their CCIW opener on Wednesday, falling at home to North Park by a score of 64-62. The Big Blue and Vikings have one common opponent this season in No. 16 Washington-St. Louis. Millikin fell by 16 to the Bears, while Augie was tripped up by a point at home against WashU.

Saturday will be the 161st meeting between the two programs, with Augie holding a 102-58 advantage in the series. The two teams split their encounters last season, each winning on their home court. Millikin defeated Augie 70-45 in Decatur, followed by a 76-64 in the Carver Center for the Vikings.
