WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will kick off their CCIW slate on Wednesday, November 30 when they visit the No. 21 ranked Wheaton Thunder on the road.
Augie enters with a 1-4 overall record after a one-point loss to No. 16 Washington-St. Louis on Sunday. The Vikings led late by as many six late in the game, but a run from the Bears was capped off with a three-point play to put them ahead at 70-69 with just three seconds remaining. Daniel Carr, whose last-second attempt at the basket narrowly missed. Carr led all scorers with 24 points.Â
All four of Augustana's losses this season have come by eight points or less, with their average margin of defeat coming in just under five points. Wednesday's contest at Wheaton will be their second-straight against a ranked opponent.
Wheaton currently sits at 5-1 on the season and is up three spots in the latest D3Hoops.com top 25 poll after beginning the year ranked No. 24. The Thunder have won two straight since dropping their only game of the year against Hanover, recently defeating Chicago 73-55 at home. All four of Wheaton's wins have come by double digits.
The Vikings hold a 78-68 record all-time over the Thunder, with the two teams splitting their last six meetings. Both teams won on other's home court last season as Augie won 79-73 in King Arena before Wheaton defeated Augustana in the Carver Center by a final of 74-63.
