ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will be back in action on Sunday, November 27 when they welcome in the No. 16 ranked Washington-St. Louis Bears to the Carver Center.
Augie enters with a 1-3 overall record following a hard-fought loss to UW-Platteville last Tuesday. The two teams played back-and-forth basketball until a late 16-3 run from the Pioneers sealed the eight-point victory for the visitors. The Vikings hit a season-best 10 threes in the outing, but were met with 12 from Platteville.
Daniel Carr secured his fourth double-double in as many games, ending his night with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four other also cracked double figures in scoring as
Tyler Knuth had 13,
Chase Larsen 12, and
Colton Gillingham and
Evan Ambrose each with 10.
Washington enters Sunday No. 16 in the D3hoops.com poll. The Bears come in with a 3-1 record, currently riding a two-game winning streak after defeating Webster by a point and CCIW foe Millikin by a score of 71-55. Washington's lone loss came on the road, a three-point setback at Wabash. The Bears have two players averaging 13 points or more, led by Drake Kindsvater's 16 per game.Â
Sunday will be the 14th meeting between the two programs, with Washington holding a slight 7-6 advantage in the series. The two teams have split their last four meetings, with the last resulting in a 73-70 home win for the Bears in 2019.
