ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will stay home for one final game prior to Thanksgiving when they welcome the UW-Platteville Pioneers to the Carver Center on Tuesday, November 22.
Augie comes in with a 1-2 record after dropping a home game to Aurora on Saturday. The Vikings held a lead late, but endured some hot shooting from the Spartans down the stretch.
Daniel Carr finished with his third double-double in as many games, tallying 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Tyler Knuth also added 16 points. As a team, Augustana ended their night with a 39 percent mark from the field, while Aurora shot 47 percent. The Spartans had 11 made threes to the Vikings' six.
The Pioneers enter with a 2-2 overall record. Platteville began the year with two straight wins, but have dropped their last two to Ripon and Mount Mercy by a combined five points. The Pioneers finished the 2021-22 season with a 25-6 overall record and were a national tournament qualifier, eventually falling in the second round to Calvin. Platteville lost their top two scorers from a season ago, but return one double-digit scorer in Logan Pearson, who was just under 12 points per game in 2021-22.
Tuesday's encounter is the teams' first meeting since 2013, which resulted in a 67-57 home win for the Pioneers. The Vikings are 5-3 all-time against the Pioneers, with their last win coming in 2012.
