BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will hit the road on Wednesday, October 5 when they visit the first-place Illinois Wesleyan Titans in a CCIW matchup.
Augustana is coming off of a 2-0 road victory over Carthage on Saturday.
Kim Vulic notched the game-winning score early in the second half, followed by a penalty kick from
Liesl Whitener later on to make it a 2-0 game. Whitener also tallied an assist on Vulic's goal, ending her week with four goals and two assists in two games played.
Janey Castoe stopped two Carthage shots in net to help complete the shutout. The Vikings currently sit at 6-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in CCIW action. They have not lost a game since September 17.
The Titans come in with a 5-1-2 overall record and are atop the CCIW with a 3-0 mark. The team is unbeaten in their last five outings, having not lost since September 10, a 3-0 defeat to Wartburg. In their most recent outing, Illinois Wesleyan blanked Wheaton by a score of 5-0. The Titans have allowed just six goals all season and have not given up a score in any of their last four outings, outscoring their opponents 15-0 over that time.
The Titans lead the all-time series between the two programs 18-9-8 and have won four straight in the series. This will be the fourth straight meeting between the teams in Bloomington, with last year's encounter resulting in a 2-1 win for Illinois Wesleyan.
