ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings football team will return home on Saturday, October 29 for their next contest as they welcome in the Illinois Wesleyan Titans for a key matchup in the CCIW.

Augustana currently sits at 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW, trailing Illinois Wesleyan by a game for fourth place. The Vikings are coming off of a 56-34 road victory over North Park last Saturday, dominating the ground game as they secured seven rushing touchdowns in the double-digit win. Tyler Rivelli tallied five of the scores on the ground, tying him for most rushing touchdowns all-time in a single outing. He finished his afternoon with a team-high 159 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards. Jacob Brooks accounted for the other two touchdowns running the ball, ending with 147 yards and an average of 16.3 yards per carry. Cole Bhardwaj had 171 yards through the air, connecting on one passing touchdown with Jack Schmitz from 19 yards out. Four different Vikings had five tackles in the contest, with Conner Waite racking up three of his for loss.

Illinois Wesleyan enters Saturday with a 5-2 overall record and 4-2 mark in league action. The Titans defeated Carthage in their last outing by a score of 55-0 to make it two straight wins overall. The team's two losses this season both came on the road, falling to Wheaton and Washington. Illinois Wesleyan is averaging over 41 points per game in their five wins this season.

Both the Vikings and Titans rank in the top five in the CCIW in both total offense and defense, as well as passing the ball. Illinois Wesleyan sits in third with 273 yards through the air per contest, with Augustana right behind at 259.

The Titans hold a 48-37-1 advantage all time in the all-time series with the Vikings. Augustana broke a five-game losing streak in 2021 with a 38-14 road victory over Illinois Wesleyan in the season finale. Bhardwaj finished with three touchdowns through the air, while Rivelli racked up over 100 yards rushing the ball in the win.
