NAPERVILLE-- Augie men's soccer lost their final match of the season Wednesday, falling to the North Central Cardinals by a score of 4-1.

Augie struggled to keep the undefeated Cardinals off their side of the field in the first half. The Vikings were outshot 12-2 in the period and failed to get a shot on goal. The shots did connect for the Cardinals, as they put three scores on the board to enter halftime up 3-0. Vikings keeper Jason Miller was busy, tallying 5 saves in his final action of the year. 

Just over 20 minutes into the second half of play, North Central sent their fourth and final goal of the match into the back of the net. The Vikings responded, scoring off a penalty kick by Mauricio Cruz. Cruz tallied his first goal of the season in the 76th minute as he closed out his career with the Vikings.

The final at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium was a 4-1 score favoring the Cardinals. 

Men's soccer will be back next fall looking to defend Thorson-Lucken Field. The 2023 schedule will be announced at a later date.
