Women's soccer gears up for crucial test at Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer test will get set for another key conference matchup on Saturday, October 22 when they visit the Carroll Pioneers in their final regular-season road game of the season.

Augustana is currently riding a three-game winning streak and sit at 9-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the CCIW following an important 2-1 road win over Wheaton on Wednesday. The Vikings struck first in the opening half on a Molly Fank penalty kick and took their one-goal advantage into halftime. The Thunder responded with the game's next goal, also converting a penalty kick in the 69th minute to even the game at 1-1. In the 86th minute, Augustana broke the tie when Kim Vulic converted another penalty kick, sending one by the the goalkeeper in the lower left corner of the net. The Vikings fended off an aggressive attack from the Thunder in the final minutes to escape with the one-goal victory.

The Pioneers enter Saturday with a 9-3-4 overall record and 2-1-3 mark in league action. The team snapped a four-game winless streak in their last outing, defeating Lawrence in a non-conference clash by a score of 6-0. Carroll's lone loss in conference came on October 12, a 1-0 defeat to Wheaton. The Pioneers have earned 1-1 draws against the top two teams in the conference standings, Illinois Wesleyan and North Central. Both Augustana and Carroll enter with a .583 winning percentage in the CCIW. 

Augie is 4-2-2 all-time against the Pioneers, winning last year's meeting at home in overtime by a final of 1-0.
