ROCK ISLAND -- Augie men's soccer comes up short on senior night, losing 2-1 to the visiting UW-Whitewater Warhawks at Thorson-Lucken Field.
Augustana fell behind 2-0 in the first half of play, proving to be a deficit the Vikings couldn't come back from. Augie was outshot 15-7 in the first 45 minutes, with Senior Frankie Baio tallying four-saves in an effort to limit the Warhawks. The Warhawks entered halftime up 2-0.
The Vikings swung back early in the second half (67:39) as Daniele Meloni got one of his three shots on goal to connect. Goalkeeper Jason Miller was inserted for the second half, recording eight saves after limited action this season outside of a singular half-of-play against UW-Platteville.
The Vikings lost the contest by a score of 2-1 to UW-Whitewater after multiple narrowly-missed shots from Augie in the second half. The Warhawks retain possession of the Warhawk-Viking Trophy, an award won annually as UW-Whitewater has since 2016.
Augie men's soccer remains home for a CCIW matchup against Wheaton at Thorson-Lucken Field on Wednesday, October 19. Stream link can be found here.
