ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings football team will return home on Saturday, October 15 as they welcome in the undefeated and No. 24 ranked Washington University Bears.

Augie is coming off a 70-0 win over Millikin last Saturday, boasting their first shutout and most points in a game since October of 2019. The Vikings saw a pair of touchdowns in both the first and second quarters on their way to a 28-0 halftime lead before breaking it open in the second half, tallying 21 points in each of the third and fourth quarters. Augie forced six Millikin turnovers, five of which were fumbles, and held the Big Blue to just 126 yards of total offense. Four different Vikings had at least one rushing touchdown, while Cole Bhardwaj posted 300 yards through the air. The balanced defensive effort was led by Ronde Worrels, who finished with six tackles. Four others tallied four tackles, with Josh Timm securing three of his for loss.

The Bears come in with a perfect 5-0 record, 4-0 in conference play, and check in at No. 24 in the latest D3football.com top 25 poll. Washington has scored over 45 points in all five games this season, including a 59-14 win over Illinois Wesleyan in their most recent outing. The Bears rank second in the CCIW in both total offense and defense, and are first in passing offense at 322 yards per game. They are the only team in the league averaging above 300 yards through the air. The Vikings are No. 3 on the list, posting 272.6 yards per outing.

Augustana is seeking its first-ever win over Wash U. The Bears lead their short all-time series 3-0, winning last year's meeting in Rock Island by a score of 31-7.
