ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will remain at home for their next contest on Wednesday, October 12 when they welcome in the Elmhurst Bluejays to Thorson-Lucken Field.
Augie is coming off of a 2-1 loss at home to Millikin on Saturday to drop their record to 6-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the CCIW. The Vikings held a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to a goal from
Liesl Whitener, but two scores from the Big Blue in the second half proved to be the difference, despite Augustana holding a 20-8 advantage in the shots category. Whitener led all players with eight attempts.
Elmhurst enters Wednesday winless on the year at 0-12 overall and 0-4 in the CCIW. The team was defeated in their most recent outing on October 10, falling to Benedictine 4-1. The Bluejays have produced just two goals scored all season.
Augustana holds an 18-6-1 record all-time against Elmhurst. The Vikings have won four straight in the series and seven of the last eight. Augie defeated Elmhurst on the road in 2021 in overtime by a final of 2-1.
