DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team will visit the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Tuesday, February 1 in their first road match of the 2022 season.
Augie is back in action after falling to the MSOE Raiders at home last Friday by a score of 3-0. It was an evenly-matched start to the opening set with both teams trading points all the way up to a 23-23 score, but MSOE tallied the final two points of the frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The visitors went on to win the second and third sets both by a score of 25-15.
Aiden Bond and
Aidan Bolen led the offensive attack for the Vikings, finishing with six kills apiece.
Matthew Degnan tallied 12 assists, while
Max Sellers had nine digs.
St. Ambrose enters Tuesday's matchup with an 0-2 record so far this season following losses to Quincy and Viterbo. Their most recent match came against Viterbo at home, falling in five sets after winning the first two. The Fighting Bees posted a 14-14 record last season after reaching their conference championship match. They ended the season winners of nine of their final 12 matches.
This will be the third meeting ever between the two programs, with St. Ambrose winning the previous two encounters in 2018 and 2020. Both wins in the series for the Bees have come by a score of 3-1.
