ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana women's soccer team will travel to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa for their next contest. Tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Vikings (3-2) will square off against the Storm (4-2-1).
Augustana is coming off of a 1-0 defeat at undefeated Trine in their last match.
The Vikings have been led by an experience-laden core of
Anna Bross,
Maeve Sheridan, and
Janey Castoe. Freshman
Savanna Birkey, however, has been the most common catalyst in Augie's offensive attack. The first-year player leads the team in points with four and goals with two.
Simpson comes into tonight's match riding the start of a hot streak. The Storm were victorious in their last game after a 1-0 win at UW-River Falls.
Forward Cassie Nash leads the Storm in points with seven as she has scored a trio of goals and one assist on the season. Jordyn Foelske and Maddie Hays are not far behind with six points each due to a combined five goals and two assists.
Augie and Simpson have faced off on three previous occasions with the Vikings leading the all-time series 2-0-1. The lone draw in the match-up's history was also the most recent, coming in the 2019 season.
