ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's soccer will start the 2021 season tomorrow evening in a non-conference match at the friendly confines of Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings will host the University of Chicago at 5:00 P.M.
In the shortened 2020 season, Augustana played seven scrimmages against CCIW and local opponents. The Vikings did not record any official scores or games. In their last fully-slated season, Augustana went 10-4-3 in 2019, while also going 5-3 in league play.
Unlike Augie, the Maroons did not play a single exhibition or official game last season. In 2019, they had a remarkable season, finishing with a 14-3-3 mark, and 4-1-2 record in University Athletic Association games.
Chicago and Augustana have faced off on the pitch twice in recorded history. The Vikings were victorious in the first game, a 2015 shutout. Chicago evened the margin the following season, when they beat Augie 3-0.
Augustana was selected to finish fourth in the conference's preseason coaches' poll, and return star contributers like
Marcela Arreguin,
Anna Bross,
Melanie Parker, and
Cami Kekelik.
