Lily Schoeck and Alek Jacobs named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Jack Swartz Award winners for fall of 2020-21; 94 Augustana student-athletes win academic all-conference honors

Augustana has announced its winners of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's Jack Swartz Awards for the fall season of 2020-21. Sophomore tennis player Lily Schoeck (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) is the women's winner and senior football player Alek Jacobs (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) was honored on the men's side. A total of 94 Viking student athletes earned academic all-conference honors for the fall season.

The Jack Swartz Award is given to one male and one female athlete at the end of each athletic season. The honor is given by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin and each of the nine schools in the league are allowed to pick their own representatives. The winner must have a grade point average of at least 3.50 and freshmen are ineligible. The award is named after the late Jack Swartz, who served as the Commissioner of the CCIW until his death in 1998.

An elementary education major who carries a 3.81 grade point average, Lily is the daughter of Cynthia and James Schoeck of Rock Island, Illinois.

Augustana's number two singles player, Schoeck went 10-4 this year, earning second team All-CCIW honors and helping the Vikings finish as runners-up at the CCIW Championships. She also posted an 8-8 record playing at first doubles. She had records of 13-3 in singles and 13-6 in doubles for Coach Jon Miedema's CCIW champions as a freshman in 2019-20. With a 23-7 singles mark, her career winning percentage of .767 currently ranks eighth in program history.

The son of Andrea and J.P. Jacobs of Rock Island, Alek is a political science and economics major with a GPA of 3.97. He's a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, an NCAA postgraduate scholar and a nominee for the National Football Foundation's William V. Campbell Trophy.

During the abbreviated 2020 season, Jacobs completed 25 of 53 passes for 336 yards and six touchdowns in three games and rushed 44 times for 167 yards and an additional three scores. His average of 18.0 points responsible for per game ranked 13th in the nation. A first team All-CCIW kick returner in 2018, he finished his career as Augustana's all-time leader in kickoff returns (52) and yardage (1,193).
