SILVIS, Ill. – In a field comprised largely of NAIA opponents, Augustana placed fourth among 13 teams Monday and Tuesday at the TPC Deere Run Invitational. Coach Tom Lawrence's squad was fourth after Monday's action and maintained that position at the completion of play of Tuesday. The Vikings were the top finisher among three NCAA Division III teams which competed.

For the second straight event, Augustana was led by Avery Frick (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.). The freshman shot 85-84—169 for the tournament to tie for fourth place. She finished in a tie for third at Millikin's Big Blue Spring Opener—her first collegiate competition—on March 13-14.

Seniors Jillian Stone (Rockridge, HS, Reynolds, Ill.) and Jennifer Filotto (Joliet Catholic HS, Romeoville, Ill.) tied for 19th place. Stone shot 96—84—180 and Filotto 92-88—180.

Junior Rylie Schurter (Crystal Lake Central HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) (92-97—189) finished 30th and freshman Amanda Gravelle (Normal Community HS, Bloomington, Ill.) (100-91—191) tied for 32nd in a field of 73 golfers.

Playing as individuals were senior Miranda Sharp (Minooka HS, Shorewood, Ill.) and sophomore Grace Loverde (Lake Zurich HS, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.). Seeing her first action of the season, Sharp carded an 88 on Monday and an 87 on Tuesday to tie for eighth with a two-round total of 175. Loverde shot 95-87—182 to finish in a tie for 22nd.

Behind medalist Dominika Gradecka (83-77—160), Bellevue captured the team title. The Bruins (358-328—868) sat in third place after Monday's play, but jumped William Penn and Davenport on Tuesday to win. The Statesmen (341-350—691) finished second, just ahead of the Panthers (356-340—696).

After the Vikings (365-347—712) in fourth were Division III Central (367-353—720), Jamestown (392-351—743) and Grand View (392-376—768). A second William Penn unit (402-387—789) placed eighth, followed by St. Ambrose (417-380—797), Culver-Stockton (408-391—799) and Division III Concordia (Wis.) (431-402—833). Peru State (426-418—844) and Midland (442-406—848) rounded out the field.

On Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11, Augustana is scheduled to compete at Illinois Wesleyan's Spring Fling at Ironwood Gold Course in Bloomington, Illinois.
