ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Head coach Scott Mejia and the Augustana women's soccer program posted an overall record of 9-8 and a 5-3 mark in conference action. The Vikings excelled in CCIW action and qualified for the 2021 CCIW Tournament where their season ended by Wheaton in the semifinals.
 
Three Viking women earned All-CCIW recognition for their efforts. Liesl Whitener led the Vikings' offensive attack and was named the CCIW's First-Team. Whitener scored four goals, including one game-winner, and notched four assists while leading the team with 12 points. The sophomore missed just one contest and started in all of her appearances. Whitener was also second on the club in both shots and shots on goal and ranked in the top ten of the CCIW in four categories including assists and shots.
 
Molly Fank joined Whitener as a First-Team All-CCIW performer. The junior defender was a key contributor on a Viking defense that ranked third in the league in goals allowed and posted five shutouts this season while holding opponents to just 1.13 goals per game. Fank also scored a single goal on the offensive end in 11 total shots. The Vikings' third all-league player was Second-Team selection Kayla Garcia. The junior midfielder finished with three goals in the 2021 season and led the team with 47 shots and 24 shots on goal. She also ranked third in the CCIW with two game-winning goals.
 
Augie opened the season with a 4-0 home loss to 16^th-ranked Chicago before rattling off three straight non-conference victories over Greenville, Benedictine, and Knox. The Vikings traded wins and losses to begin league action with home wins over Carroll in overtime and Millikin. Augustana goalkeeper Janey Castoe was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Week during this stretch after two stellar contests at North Central and Carthage.
 
Augie ended the regular season with a 2-1 win over North Park to clinch a berth in the 2021 CCIW Tournament. There, in the semifinal round, the Vikings were outlasts by Wheaton in double overtime thriller by a 2-1 final score.
