Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Beinborn earns 100th career victory in road sweep over Anderson, Wittenberg

Vikings improve to 5-1 with two non-league wins

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Augustana women's basketball (5-1) head coach Mark Beinborn coached the Vikings to two wins this weekend, the first of which was his 100th-career victory at the helm of Augie women's hoops.

On Saturday afternoon, the Vikings played a balanced and competitive game against Anderson University (0-4). Four Augie players scored in double-figures as the Vikings outscored Anderson in three of four quarters on their way to a 73-65 win.

Gabriela Loiz led the way again with 20 points and was just shy of a double-double win nine rebounds. Lauren Hall did post a double-double, her third of the season, with 12 points and a game-high 11 boards. Macy Beinborn added 14 points for Augie while Emma Berg had her best game of the season with 10.

Anderson leaned on leading scorer Lexi Dellinger, but her prolific day was not enough. Dellinger led the Ravens with 37 points and seven rebounds.

On Sunday, Augustana completed the weekend sweep with a 63-55 triumph over the hosts from Wittenberg University (2-2). The Vikings stumbled out of the gate with an underwhelming seven-point first period but found their rhythm in the second half with a combined score of 41-27 over the final two quarters.

Forward Linnea Johansen had a season-high 20 points to pace Augie against Wittenberg. Johansen added five boards. Gabriela Loiz was the Vikings' second-leading scorer with 12, followed by Lauren Hall with eight points and another dominant rebounding game with 10 boards.

Wittenberg was led by two double-digit scorers in Abigail Yunker with 13 points and Kristie Kalis with 11.

Augustana will continue their road swing for their next contest when they travel to Webster University in St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 27.
