ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Augustana (5-2) traveled to St. Louis earlier this afternoon for a non-conference game against the Gorloks of Webster University (7-0). The Vikings gave Webster all the hosts could handle but could not come away with the victory.
Webster enjoyed a productive first quarter and jumped out to an early 18-11 lead at the first break. The second period was much different, though, as Webster only scored five total points in the frame and Augustana rallied to take a 26-23 halftime lead.
To start the second half, the Gorloks made the necessary adjustments at the break and exploded for a 38-point third period. The Vikings answered the bell yet again and put 31 points of their own on the board in the fourth, but the Webster lead was too great and the Gorloks sealed the 81-74 win.
Augustana had four players in double-digits led by
Macy Beinborn's 22 points.
Hannah Simmer and
Lauren Hall each recorded double-doubles as Simmer notched 16 points and Hall 10 while both snagged 10 rebounds.
Gabriela Loiz continued her prolific offensive season with 15 points.
Webster also had four scorers reach double figures including Naomi Johnson with a game-high 27, Hannah Cottrell and Bethany Lancaster with 11, and Addison Beussink with 10.
The Vikings will return the court next weekend when they start conference play with a trip to 22
nd-ranked Millikin on Saturday, Dec. 4.
