Women's soccer travels to Wheaton for CCIW Tournament Semifinals

Vikings will make third-straight tournament appearance as fourth-seeded squad

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's soccer (9-7, 5-3) is set for postseason play as the Vikings will travel to top-seeded Wheaton tomorrow evening.
 
The Vikings have won four of their last six matches with three of their four wins coming against conference opponents.
 
Augustana has enjoyed offensive output from a handful of individual players and solid defense in goal. Liesl Whitener has scored the most total points with 12 including team-high four goals and four assists. Kayla Garcia has also been productive with six points and three goals plus team-bests in shots with 47 and shots on goal with 24. Maeve Sheridan and Anna Bross have also put together standout performances with a combined 41 shots, 23 shots on goal, and five goals.
 
In goal, Janey Castoe has been the featured keeper for the Vikings with 16 starts to her credit. Castoe has allowed 19 goals and saved 70 shots for a .787 save percentage. Five of Castoe's nine wins have been shutouts.
 
The Wheaton Thunder are the top seed in the CCIW Tournament after defeating Millikin 2-0 in the season finale to reach their current 9-7-2 overall and 7-1 conference records.
 
Grace Hermanson leads the Thunder with 16 total points and eight goals, three of which have been in game-winning fashion. Two other Wheaton women have scored double-digit points on the season including Sophie Lindquist and Sara Bakke with 14 and 10, respectively. Lindquist has scored six goals on 33 total shots and 20 shots on goal while Bakke has scored six goals on 44 shots and 21 shots on goal. Despite scoring just three goals, Audrey Sexson has been the most active Thunder attacker with 50 shots and 26 shots on goal to lead the team in both categories.
 
Lauren Ketchum has been the key keeper for Wheaton this season with 18 starts to her credit. In those games, Ketchum has allowed 22 goals and saved 102 shots for a .823 save percentage.
 
In the history of the series, Augustana has notched just one win against the Thunder. Wheaton holds a 1-9-1 all-time record against the Vikings and won the most recent match in the CCIW opener earlier this season by a 3-0 score in Rock Island.
