Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Leonardo Panosso and Arthur Hermange of the Augustana men's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championship over the weekend, seeing some success across the board as they went up against top-level competition in the region.

On Friday, Panosso and Hermange were victorious in their first match of the weekend in doubles, defeating a duo from Hanover by a score of 8-3. The Vikings then fell in the second round to the eventual champions from Case Western Reserve by a final of 8-0.

In singles, both Panosso and Hermange battled tough in their opening round matches but fell and dropped to the consolation bracket the rest of the way. Hermange's match went three sets with his opponent from Elmhurst, fighting back from a set one loss to force a third and deciding set. He was defeated in a close back-and-forth set 10-8. Later in the day, a pair of wins from each of the Vikings sent them in to consolation round of 16 with a chance to move on the quarterfinals. Hermange was victorious over Falk (Adrian) 6-1, 6-2, while Panosso defeated Cuddy (Adrian) 6-4, 6-0. Panosso dropped his next match to end his run at the ITA Regionals.

On Saturday, it was Hermange who made some noise after beginning the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Goodman (Trine). The win pushed him into the quarterfinals where he picked up another victory, this time a 6-2, 6-0 win over Abreu from Capital. The consolation semifinal match put him against a familiar foe from North Central, where he was triumphant in 6-2, 6-4 battle that went his way. His run fell short in the consolation final as he was defeated on Sunday in the title match to Case 6-2, 6-1. Augie was one of just four teams competing on Sunday across the board.

"Arthur Hermange and Leo Panosso played some of the best players in our region at the Kalamazoo ITA Regional this weekend," head coach David DeSimone said. "Arthur had a tough first-round loss, but played very well in his consolation matches, getting to the consolation final. As a first-year student-athlete, playing in six competitive singles matches will be valuable to Arthur's on-court development. Overall, there are many great things that we can take away as a program and continue to build on for our upcoming spring season."

The team's season will resume in early February.
