ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 6th when they welcome in the undefeated North Central Cardinals for a CCIW clash.
The Vikings are looking to a snap a long losing streak against the Cardinals, who enter Wednesday's contest with a 12-0-1 record. Their last meeting game back in 2019, which resulted in a 6-1 win for North Central in Rock Island. The Cardinals have outscored the Vikings 16-2 in their last seven meetings.
North Central is currently riding a three-game winning streak after posting a scoreless tie with Elmhurst in their only game this season they did not win. The Cardinals have gone six consecutive games without allowing a goal and have a total of 11 shutouts this season. They are averaging just over two goals per contest on the year.
Augustana will look to bounce back from its 2-1 defeat to Millikin last Saturday at home and get back on track as they have now lost two straight overall. The Vikings outshot the Big Blue 12-7 in their last outing, but were only able to scratch across one goal as Millikin broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half and held on to the 2-1 victory.
Tyler Markell had the lone goal for Augustana.
