ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana men's soccer team will play in their final game of the 2021 season on Saturday, October 30 when they welcome in this year's CCIW regular season champion, the North Park Vikings.
Augie is coming off of their biggest offensive showing of the season on Wednesday when they defeated the Carroll Pioneers in a rescheduled contest at home. The Vikings struck for four goals in the first half, including two from
Sebastian Gabrielson to help pull away. Two more goals in the second half gave them their highest scoring output of the season as they notched their first conference win. Despite the margin on the scoreboard, Carroll posted a plus-margin in shots at 18-14 for the game.. The Vikings scored on six of their seven shots on target in the contest, while the Pioneers saw a total of seven shots on goal as well.
Frankie Baio had five saves for Augie.
Niko Ragano also added a stop. Gabrielson tallied seven shots on offense.
Leo Krause was the only other member to have more than one attempt, also tallying a goal on the night.
North Park enters Saturday's matchup having already clinched the CCIW regular season title. The visiting Vikings sit 12-4 on the year and 7-0 in conference action. They are coming off a close 1-0 loss to nationally-ranked University of Chicago in their last outing, giving them their first defeat since September 22. In seven CCIW games this year, North Park is outscoring their opponents 27-2.
Augustana holds the all-time series lead between the two with a 24-16-2 record, but North Park has won the last five meetings, outscoring Augie 16-0 during that span. Augustana's last win over North Park came back in 2014, a 3-2 victory in Rock Island.
Kickoff is slated for 3:300 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
