KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings football team will head back onto the road for the first time in three weeks as they enter their final stretch of the season with a conference matchup against the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, October 30. Augie seeks to bounce back following a thrilling 29-26 overtime loss to Carroll last Saturday. The Vikings put up their best total offense performance of the season against the Pioneers, but a minus-five margin in the turnover category proved to be costly. As a team, the Vikings posted 381 yards of total offense compared to the Pioneers' 357. The Augie defense held the pass-heavy offense of Carroll below their season average making it the second straight week doing so. Tim Swaney tallied a team-high ten tackles, two for loss. Four others secured eight tackles apiece, including Chase Tatum with 2.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks.

On offense, Bobby Inserra had a career day catching the ball, hauling in ten receptions for 180 yards a touchdown. His ten catches were two off the school-record mark of 12. Cole Bhardwaj finished 24-36 for 316 yards with two touchdown completions. Bhardwaj will get the start again this week on the road.

Carthage enters Saturday's meeting with a 3-4 record overall and 3-3 mark in CCIW competition. The Firebirds began the conference slate with a perfect 3-0 record but since then have dropped three straight. The team is coming off of a 69-20 defeat to No. 6 Wheaton last Saturday in which they were out-gained by nearly 300 yards. Quarterback Bryce Lowe threw the ball 38 times for Carthage, completing 24 for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He also had three interceptions. Sylvere Campbell was their main target against the Thunder, securing nine catches for 126 yards. Campbell leads the team in receiving yards through seven games. The Firebirds are 1-2 at home this season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
