10/26/2021 9:46:00 AM

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana men's soccer team will play in their penultimate game of season on Wednesday when they welcome in the Carroll Pioneers in a rescheduled CCIW match from earlier this year. Their first meeting, scheduled for late September, was pushed back to this Wednesday due to travel issues on behalf of the Pioneers men's team.

The Vikings are looking to bounce back from an 8-0 road loss to UW-Whitewater last Saturday. The Vikings were out-shot 24-3 in the contest. All three of the Vikings attempts came in the first half, with two of those coming from Sebastian Gabrielson and the other from Hannes Hemgren. Benjamin Samuelson and Frankie Baio split time in the net and combined for five saves for Augie.

Carroll enters Wednesday's matchup sporting an 8-6-1 record and sit 1-4-1 in CCIW play. The team has lost two straight and four of their last five, with their most recent contest a 2-1 loss at home against Illinois Wesleyan. The Pioneers' lone win in conference came on October 16 when they defeated Millikin 2-1.

Augustana and Carroll have met just four times, with each grabbing two wins apiece. Their most recent meeting came back in October 2019 which resulted in a 2-1 win for the Vikings at home. Augustana holds a two-game winning streak over Carroll after dropping the first two contests in their all-time series.

Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field
