Box Score HANOVER PARK, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team was defeated by the Millikin Big Blue on Saturday in the third-place match of the CCIW Fall Championships, falling by a score of 5-2 at Centre Court in Hanover Park.

It was a competitive doubles portion of the match, with Millikin grabbing two of three for the slight advantage heading into singles. Michaela Magee and Mia Reese earned a win for Augie with a score of 8-7 at No. 3 doubles, while Lily Schoeck and Caitlyn Hanulikova were narrowly defeated by the same score at No. 1. At the No. 2 spot, Millikin won with a final score of 8-3.

In singles, the Big Blue earned wins at the back end of the rotation at No. 5 and 6, as well as No. 2 to clinch the victory. The other match to finish came at the third slot as Hanulikova defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Hanulikova concludes her fall slate with a singles record of 10-2, with both losses coming to undefeated North Central.

"We played well overall today and much improved than we did the first time against Millikin," said head coach David DeSimone. "I am proud of this team and how much we grew over the course of the fall."

With the defeat, Augustana falls to 5-7 on the season. The top four finish in this year's CCIW Fall Championships will assure them a bid into the CCIW AQ tournament in the spring. The Vikings will resume their season on February 26 when they visit Coe.
