WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team will play their second consecutive non-conference contest on Saturday, October 23 when they hit the road to take on the UW-Whitewater Warhawks.
The Warhawks enter the weekend with an 11-5-1 record on the year. The team began the year undefeated in its first six games, but has seen their record hover around .500 since then. The Warhawks have lost two straight going into Friday and will play Augsburg Friday night before hosting Augustana on Saturday evening. Whitewater is 2-0 this season against fellow CCIW opponents, defeating both Millikin and Carroll. It will be Senior Night on Saturday for the Warhawks.
The Vikings are looking to bounce back following a 3-0 loss to UW-Platteville on Tuesday.
Frankie Baio had a busy game in net for Augie, tallying eight saves.
Hannes Hemgren had two shots to lead the Vikings, while
Jarrett Baumgartner and
Sebastian Gabrielson accounted for the two shots on goal.
UW-Whitewater leads the all-time series between the two 10-3-3. Their most recent meeting came back in Rock Island in 2018, which resulted in a 2-1 win for the Warhawks. The two teams have each earned a win to go with one tie in their last three outings. The Warhawks have won four of the last six dating back to 2013.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
