Augie seeks to bounce back following a 31-7 home loss to Washington University last Saturday. The Vikings started the game on a high note, forcing a three-and-out before punching in the game's first score on their opening possession, but 31 unanswered points from the Bears allowed them to take control and eventually grab the victory. Augustana struggled to move the ball, primarily in the first half, but saw some success on the defensive side of the ball holding the Bears well below their season average in the passing game. The Vikings were just 3-14 on third downs compared to the Bears' 8-14 mark. Individually,
Jacob Brooks tallied a team-high 61 yards on the ground for the home team, while
Craig Shelton had four catches for 40 yards on the afternoon, both of which were also team highs. Starting quarterback
Cole Bhardwaj finished 10-24 through the air with 70 yards and is expected to get the start against the Pioneers on Saturday.
Liam Crawley also saw time at quarterback against Washington, tallying 34 yards on 3-5 passing.
On defense, Augie saw two players collect double-digit tackles, led by
Tim Swaney with 14.
Nick Harper had 11 from the secondary.
Chase Tatum secured 1.5 sacks.
Carroll enters Saturday's matchup with an overall record of 3-3 and a mark of 2-3 in CCIW play. The team is coming off a 48-13 home loss to No. 6 ranked Wheaton in their last outing. The pass-heavy offense was led by quarterback Michael Johnson, who threw the ball 37 times against the Thunder, completing 22 for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Six different Pioneers caught a pass in the game, spearheaded by Austin Eichstaedt who hauled in eight for 148 yards and a score. Johnson is averaging just under 273 yards per contest throwing the ball this season, with 112 of those yards going to Eichstaedt.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Creating Awareness
On Saturday, the Augustana College football team will also be acknowledging Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the game, the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention Education will be hosting a table by the front entrance that will provide resources and information as it relates to domestic violence awareness and education. In addition, purple ribbons will be given out to spectators to show support for those impacted by
domestic violence and will have boxes available to collect canned foods to be donated to Family Resources, a local domestic violence shelter and rape crisis center.
"DVAM is a chance for anyone and everyone to unite in the work to end domestic violence," says Zachary Draves, Program Director for Sexual Assault Prevention Education. "We invite advocates, loved ones, supporters, students, and community leaders to join together in solidarity to listen to and uplift survivors. Together, we can collectively raise awareness and do our part to put an end to abuse."
