ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's soccer will travel to Elmhurst tonight to take on the Bluejays of Elmhurst University.
The Vikings enter the game with hopes of remaining above .500 overall, and regaining that mark in conference play. Augie currently sits at 7-6 altogether and 3-3 in the CCIW.
Elmhurst is behind Augustana in the league standings with an overall record of 4-6-1 and a CCIW mark of 1-3-1. The Bluejays were victorious in their last game with a 1-0 victory over Benedictine University.
Elmhurst trails Augustana in the all-time series by a 6-1 margin. The Vikings have won the last three matches between the two teams with the most lopsided score coming in 2018 after a 4-0 drubbing by the Vikings.
Elmhurst is led by Gabby Ketola and Hannah Bacon with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Ketola leads the three primary offensive categories with 37 shots, 25 shots on goal, and 5 goals. Bacon is second in those same stats with 33 shots, 21 shots on goal, and four goals. Both Ketola and Bacon have each recorded three assists.
MaKenzee Velchek has been the primary goalkeeper for Elmhurst with 11 starts this season. Velchek has allowed 16 goals in over 1,000 minutes in goal and recorded a respectable save percentage of .860.
A win for Augie tonight would help their cause for a CCIW tournament berth. After tonight, Augustana has just two contests remaining.
