ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, October 2nd when they welcome in the Millikin Big Blue for their first conference home game of the year.
The Vikings are winners of three straight and five of the last seven over the Big Blue, with their last meeting coming in 2019 that resulted in a 2-0 home victory for Augie. Each of their two losses since 2013 against Millikin have been decided by one goal and were both away from home.
Millikin enters Saturday's contest still search for their first win of the season and they sport an 0-7-2 record so far this year. The team is currently 0-1-1 in conference, but did play No. 16 ranked Carthage to a 1-1 tie in their CCIW opener last week. In their last full season of competition, the Big Blue went 6-9-1 during the 2019 season and posted a 2-6 record in league play.
Augustana will look to bounce back from its 2-0 defeat at Wheaton on Wednesday. The team endured a barrage of shots from the Thunder that resulted in a 32-8 differential in that category.
Sebastian Gabrielson accounted for half of the Vikings' shots in this one, putting up four of the eight total team attempts.
Brandon Knapp was next in line with two. Gabrielson had the two shots on target for Augie as well. In goal,
Frankie Baio had a busy night, saving eight Wheaton shots.
