ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Former Augustana standout
Seth Davis, a 2015 graduate, has been named to the D3baseball.com 2010's All-Decade Team. The southpaw pitcher from Aurora, Colorado was instrumental to the success of the Vikings throughout his career. Davis was a team captain both his junior and senior year, but his leadership on the mound was evident throughout his entire career as the awards and accolades piled up.
In 2012, as a freshman, Davis made a name for himself after he was named to the All- College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) second team. Just one year later, not only did he improve by making the All-CCIW first team, and was also an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American.
Davis, a second team selection, was the 12th Viking baseball player to hold this honor. His sophomore season also led to two separate All-Region awards, one given out by D3baseball.com and the other by the ABCA. The recognition did not stop there, however, as Davis earned one more All-CCIW second team selection as a junior and another All-Region selection as a senior.
Not only is Davis one of the most decorated baseball players in Augustana history, but he also holds multiple Augustana baseball records. Most notably, Davis holds the record for most strikeouts with an impressive 331 within his 2012-2015 career.
He also claimed the number one spots for most innings pitched with 275 and most pickoffs with 37. Davis's single season records are just as impressive; in 2013 he threw exactly 100 strikeouts, which put him at fourth all time in that category, and in 2015 he set a school record for most strikeouts/9 inning game with an average of 12.61.
Fortunately, Davis's career did not stop after his senior year at Augustana. In 2015 he was a part of the Major League Baseball draft and was chosen in the 29th round by the New York Mets. He pitched professionally throughout the 2019 season.
