Lauren Muzzalupo (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.) scored the game-tying goal in the 88th minute Saturday at North Park, then added the game-winner in overtime, as Augustana won the battle of the Vikings 2-1 at Holmgren Athletic Complex. Coach
Scott Mejia's squad improved to 6-0-2 on the season and 1-0 in the CCIW, while the hosts fell to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.
With her side down 1-0 in the waning minutes of the match, Muzzalupo parlayed an assist from junior
Grace Sigler (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) into her third goal of the season, leveling the score. Junior
Cameron Kekelik (Munster HS, Munster, Ind.) got off the final shot of regulation, but it went wide in the 90th minute and the teams headed to overtime.
In the fourth minute of the extra session, Muzzalupo had a shot go high, but in minute 96 she tallied her fourth goal of the season to make a winner of Augustana.
Mejia's squad outshot its hosts 9-2 in a scoreless first half. Neither of NPU's tries were put on frame, while its keeper, Theresa Weiss turned away shots by Sigler in the seventh minute and junior
Jenna Dvorak (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) in the 41st.
North Park took the lead in the 54th minute, when a Mikaela Mandala corner led to Sam Moreno's fourth goal of the season. Weiss stopped three more Augustana shots before Muzzalupo finally broke through with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.
The guests finished with a 28-7 advantage in shots, including 9-3 in shots on goal. Augustana led in corners 6-5 and was whistled for 15 fouls to 12 for NPU. North Park received the only caution of the match.

Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.), who entered goal in the 29th minute, recorded two saves on the day. Freshman starter
Anjelica Ortiz (Hononegah HS, South Beloit, Ill.) did not face a shot. Weiss logged seven saves for North Park.
Augustana travels to Naperville, Illinois on Wednesday, October 2 to face North Central in a 7:00 p.m. match.
