in Tuesday's 1-1 tie at Coe.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Freshman Maeve Sheridan (Mother McAuley HS, Chicago, Ill.) gave Augustana the lead with a goal in the 76th minute Tuesday, but the Vikings surrendered the tying score five minutes later and ultimately settled for a 1-1 tie with Coe at Clark Field. Coach Scott Mejia's side moved to 4-0-1 on the season and the Kohawks to 4-2-1.

After 75 scoreless minutes, an Augustana corner from the right side led to the first goal of the match. Freshman Abbey Kramer's (Crystal Lake Central HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) kick ended up with classmate Molly Fank (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.). Coe keeper Alex Montalbano turned away Fank's attempt, but Sheridan was there to follow up for her fourth goal of the year and a 1-0 Viking lead.

The hosts got the equalizer five minutes later. After playing a left-side corner kick short, Sydney Schroder's cross found Amanda Hiebert, who converted for her sixth goal of the season.

The Vikings put two of three shots on frame in the final 10 minutes of regulation, but couldn't find the back of the net and the match went to overtime.

Mejia's bunch got off the only three shots of the extra sessions, but none yielded the game winner.

The visitors controlled the run of play in the first half, with an 8-1 advantage in shots, including 4-1 in shots on goal. Augustana junior Grace Sigler (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) put two of her four shots on frame, but both were turned away by Montalbano. Sheridan had two scoring opportunities late in the period. Her shot on the first went wide left and Montalbano stopped the second.

On the evening, Augustana outshot Coe 21-7, putting seven on goal to five for the Kohawks. The Vikings had a 5-2 edge in corners and were called for a dozen fouls to nine for the hosts.

Junior Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.) recorded four saves for Augustana, while Montalbano stopped eight Viking shots.

Augustana will visit another American Rivers Conference outfit on Friday, September 20, visiting Simpson in Indianola, Iowa for a 7:00 p.m. match.
