Liam Cunningham scored with an assist from Rocco Mularoni 34 seconds in to put the hosts on top. Luke Elder added unassisted goals two minutes apart and Max Kuiper assisted on a Mularoni goal to make it 4-0 Hope at the nine-minute mark of the first quarter.

Shane Forsythe's (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) unassisted goal with 8½ minutes left in the period got Augustana on the board, but Ben Staubus answered for the Flying Dutchmen as Mularoni recorded his second assist of the game and Hope led 5-1 after one quarter.

Elder had three second-quarter goals as the Dutch extended their advantage to 10-4 at the half. Matthew Lampasona (Oak Forest HS, Oak Forest, Ill.), Trever Moore (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) and Travis Hastings (Englewood HS, Littleton, Colo.) scored for the Vikings, with Hastings' goal just beating the halftime buzzer.

Hope tallied the first six goals of the second half—including all five scored in the third period—to put the game out of reach. Kuiiper and Mularoni each scored twice as the Flying Dutchmen stretched the margin to 16-4 early in the fourth quarter.

Lee Whorwell's (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) goal with 13:09 to play ended a nearly 17-minute Viking drought. Jason Van Dyck (Crystal Lake South HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) and John Calabrese (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) scored for the Vikings before Whorwell's goal with 13 seconds left accounted for the final.

Whorwell led Coach Dan Torie's attack with two goals. Calabrese won 16 of 28 faceoffs and collected a game-high 11 grounds balls. Matt Balara (St. Charles North HS, Elburn, Ill.) led the Vikings with two caused turnovers. Cameron Duffy (Glenbrook South HS, Glenview, Ill.) had nine saves in 45 minutes in goal.

Elder scored six times for Hope, while Mularoni added four goals (and four assists) and Kuiper three.

The Flying Dutchmen had advantages of 43-41 in shots and 41-33 in ground balls. Each team committed 30 turnovers.

Augustana is back in action on Wednesday, March 20 at Aurora. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
