Justin Murphy (36) assisted on both of
Augustana's goals Saturday, including
the game-winner by Salah Aghlaf (38) in
the 110th minute.

KENOSHA, Wis. – Junior Salah Aghlaf (Sabrine HS, Casablanca, Morocco) scored in the final minute of the second overtime Saturday at Art Keller Field to lift Augustana to a 2-1 win over Carthage in the Vikings' 2019 season finale. Coach Mick Regan's outfit finished the year 6-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the CCIW. The Red Men fell to 8-10-2 on the season and 3-4-1 in the league.

Aghlaf's game-winner was his fourth goal of the season and came off an assist from classmate Justin Murphy (Glenbard East HS, Lombard, Ill.).

Each side scored in the first six minutes before going more than 103 minutes without a goal. Senior Matt Allen (Batavia HS, Batavia, Ill.) gave the Vikings the lead when he scored off a Murphy assist in the second minute. The goal was Allen's team-leading fifth of the season.

Carthage got the equalizer in the sixth minute. Jerry Patino's eighth goal of the year pulled the Red Men even at 1-1.

Augustana keeper Jeremy Klaber (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.) stopped the only other shot that Carthage put on frame in the first half, turning away a Patino attempt in the 39th minute. The Red Men's Niko Mavrogiannis made four saves in the opening 45 minutes, including one against Bennett Tomalin (Memorial HS, Madison, Wis.) in minute 43 that kept the match tied at the half.

Each side's keeper made four saves in a scoreless second half. Christian Lekki relieved Mavrogiannis in the 83rd minute and was peppered with attempts by Nicholas Dispensa (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.), Allen, Murphy and Nathan Clay (University HS, Bloomington, Ill.). However, he was up to the challenge, stopping all four. Klaber turned away Carthage's final try by Jorge Triana in the 88th minute.

Klaber recorded a pair of saves in the first overtime and Lekki collected an Aghlaf shot in the 100th minute to keep the match tied.

Aghlaf's game-winner was the only shot of the second overtime.

Both sides finished with 22 shots, with 11 of the Vikings' put on frame to eight for Carthage. The Red Men took 13 corners to Augustana's eight. The Vikings were whistled for 22 fouls to 11 for Carthage.

Klaber logged seven saves, while Mavrogiannis made four and Lekki five.
