Kenosha, Wisconsin.

KENOSHA, Wis. – Coach Scott Mejia's Augustana soccer outfit clinched a spot in the upcoming CCIW Tournament with a 2-1 win at Carthage Saturday. The Vikings improved to 10-3-2 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the Lady Reds fell to 7-8-2 on the season and 4-3-1 in the league.

Jacey Kent got the hosts on the board first, scoring in minute 26 to give Carthage a 1-0 lead. The goal was Kent's fourth of the season.

Augustana got the equalizer seven minutes later. Junior Sandra Camarillo (United Township HS, Silvis, Ill.) tallied her first goal of the season in the 33rd minute to level the score at 1-1.

That's the way the first half would end. The Vikings outshot their hosts by a 7-2 margin in the opening 45 minutes, with the respective goals being the only shots either side put on frame.

In the 62nd minute, Augustana grabbed the lead. Junior Grace Sigler (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.) scored for the fourth consecutive match to give her team a 2-1 advantage. The goal was Sigler's team-leading ninth of the season.

Viking keeper Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, LaCrosse, Wis.) turned away shots by Lady Reds Libby Snyder and Morgan Verbeten in minutes 77 and 86, respectively, to preserve the victory.

Augustana finished with a 14-8 edge in shots, including 5-3 in shots on goal. Carthage took six corners to the Vikings' two, was called for 12 fouls to 11 for Augustana and was issued the only two cautions of the match.

Mejia's squad will open CCIW Tournament play on Wednesday, November 6 in a semifinal match at top-seeded Wheaton (16-1-1, 8-0). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
