BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – For the second time in a week, Augustana went to overtime on the road in CCIW Tournament play Saturday. However, after advancing to the title match via a shootout with sixth-ranked Wheaton on Wednesday, the Vikings couldn't pull out a victory at Illinois Wesleyan, falling 1-0 to the Titans for the championship. Coach Scott Mejia's side finished the year with a record of 10-4-3, while IWU improved to 14-5 and earned the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, the match's only goal came quickly in overtime. Lauren Shanks tallied her sixth of the season just 18 seconds in off an assist from Flower Edington.

Illinois Wesleyan outshot its guests by an 11-2 margin in the first half, but each side put just a single shot on frame. Augustana keeper Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.) stopped a Megan O'Neal attempt in the 15th minute and her Titan counterpart, Kelli McCarthy, turned away Karissa Gottardo's (Jacobs HS, Algonquin, Ill.) shot four minutes later.

In the second half, the Vikings narrowed the shot disparity to 7-4, with a total of just three tries put on goal. McCarthy made the save on junior Sandra Camarillo (United Township HS, Silvis, Ill.) in minute 63 and Ion added two more saves, the second against Anna Eager in the 85th minute. Freshman Molly Fank (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.) got off the final shot of regulation in the 89th minute, but it went wide.

The Titans finished with a 19-6 edge in shots, but the difference was just 4-2 in shots on goal. IWU took seven corners to Augustana's one and was called for a dozen fouls to the Vikings' 13. Wesleyan received  the only two cautions of the match.
