ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior Salah Aghlaf (Sabrine HS, Casablanca, Morocco) scored twice and added an assist Wednesday to lead Augustana to a 3-1 win over Wisconsin-Platteville at Thorson-Lucken Field. Coach Mick Regan's Vikings improved to 5-5-2 on the year, while the Pioneers dropped to 7-8-2.

In the 13th minute, senior Daniel Artman (Schaumburg HS, Hanover Park, Ill.) lofted a cross from the left side that Aghalf put away from point-blank range to give Augustana a 1-0 lead.

The Vikings extended their advantage to 2-0 in minute 38. Aghlaf fired a low shot from 35 yards that handcuffed UWP keeper Nate Miller and found the back of the net. The goal was Aghlaf's third of the season.

Despite having been outshot 10-6, Augustana took its 2-0 lead to the halftime break.

In minute 49, Maxim Hamers (Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum, Blaricum, Netherlands) made it 3-0 with his first goal of the year. Taking a long pass ahead from Aghlaf, Hamers worked the right side and slid his shot inside the far post.

The Pioneers got on the board in minute 65 when Jack Gentilli scored his sixth goal of the season off an Addison Freybler assist.

The Viking defense allowed its guests just three more shots the rest of the way. Only Noah Mesdjian's in minute 89 was put on frame and senior keeper Jeremy Klaber (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.) stopped it for his seventh save of the night.

For the match, Platteville put eight of its 18 shots on goal, compared to five of eight for Augustana. The Vikings took four corners to three for the Pioneers and were called for 14 fouls to UWP's seven. Platteville was issued two cautions.

Regan's crew plays its final regular season home contest on Saturday, October 26 against Elmhurst. Kickoff at Thorson-Lucken Field is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
