ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana dropped a hard-fought five set thriller to Coe in non-conference women's volleyball action on Wednesday, September 26 at home in the Carver Center. The Vikings won the first set in the match 25-18, dropped the second 20-25 and won the third 25-18 before falling 22-25 and 8-15 in the final two sets as the Kohawks picked up the victory.

Augustana was ahead 2-1 in sets and in a decisive spot in the fourth the Vikings trailed 10-6 when junior Madi Glatz (Morton HS, Morton, Ill.) served seven straight points to give Augustana a 13-10 edge and momentum. However, Coe got a kill rom Adysen Wintermote to stop the Viking run and the Kohawks tied the set 13-13.

The lead see-sawed back and forth and things were tied 20-20 when Coe surged ahead and used kills by Wintermote and Lindsey Koch to secure the set 25-22. In the decisive fifth set Coe broke a 6-6 tie and never looked back as the Kohawks scored nine of the final 11 points of the game to win 15-8.

Senior Emily Uglem (Moorhead HS, Moorhead, Minn.) and junior Grace Bialobok (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Homewood, Ill.) led the Vikings in kills with 15 apiece. Uglem added five digs and Bialobok had three assisted blocks.

Freshman Sierra Erke (Quincy HS, Quincy, Ill.) picked up seven kills, three blocking assists and two digs while junior Taylor Steger (Red Wing HS, Goodhue, Minn.) had six kills with six digs and two blocking assists.
