Sophomore Bennett Tomalin goes up for a header in Augustana's 1-0 loss
to Nebraska Wesleyan Sunday at Thorson-Lucken Field.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Nebraska Wesleyan's Ben Schulz scored in the 80th minute Sunday, as the Prairie Wolves downed Augustana 1-0 at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings fell to 2-3 on the season, while NWU improved to 4-2.

NWU outshot Augustana 5-2 in a scoreless first half. The Prairie Wolves put two of those attempts on frame, both of which were saved by junior Jeremy Klaber (Stevenson HS, Buffalo Grove, Ill.).

One of the Vikings' better opportunities came in the 61st minute when junior Salah Aghlaf's (Casablanca, Morocco) close-range header went wide left.

In the 72nd minute, Klaber kept the match scoreless by making leaping save on a Todd Mathewson blast.

Finally, in minute 80, Schulz cracked MWU's goose egg. He worked the left side to beat Klaber for his second goal of the season.

Augustana had a pair of opportunities late, but freshman Job Huges' (Gemeentelijk Gymnasium Hilversum, Blaricum, Netherlands) shot in the 88th minute was blocked by a Prairie Wolf defender and Aghlaf's try in minute 89 sailed high.

NWU put six of its 10 shots on frame. Klaber finished with five saves. None of the Vikings' seven shots were on goal. Augustana had a 4-3 advantage in corners and committed 18 fouls to eight for the visitors.

Coach Mick Regan's side is back in action on Wednesday, September 19, visiting Wisconsin-Platteville for a 7:30 p.m. match.
