Vikings fall at IWU in women's lacrosse

Junior Carla Bennett scored a pair of goals for the Vikings in an 18-3
loss at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, April 7.

BLOOMINGTON, Illinois – Illinois Wesleyan scored the first eight goals of the game and went on to an 18-3 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women's lacrosse victory on Saturday, April 7 in Bloomington, Illinois. The Titans led 11-1 at halftime and held statistical advantages over the Vikings in every category.
 
Junior Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) scored two goals for the Vikings and junior Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) had the other. All three goals for Augustana were unassisted.
 
Illinois Wesleyan held a distinct 43-8 advantage in shots, a 24-13 edge in ground balls and an 18-4 margin in draw controls.
 
Augustana is now 6-5 on the season and 0-2 in the CCIW while Illinois Wesleyan moved to 7-4 and 1-0. The Vikings will be in action again on Saturday, April 14 against Carroll in a 3:00 p.m. game in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
