Freshman Sandra Pielechaty had a goal and three ground balls
Saturday in Augustana's 16-6 loss to Carthage at Thorson-Lucken Field.
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Rachel Mussell and Nicole Bowman each scored four goals Saturday to lead Carthage to a 16-6 win over Augustana at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Viking dropped to 6-7 on the season and 0-4 in the CCIW, while the Lady Reds improved to 11-5 and 3-2, respectively.

Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) parlayed an assist from classmate
Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) into her 26th goal of the season.
Mussell and Jessie Gibson each scored twice over the next 15 minutes, as Carthage built a 4-1 lead. Megan McNamara assisted on both of Mussell's goals.
McCabe sandwiched a pair of goals around one by Lady Red Nicole Bowman and the Vikings trailed just 5-3 with less than five minutes remaining in the first half. However, India Soodan and Mussell had scores less than a minute apart and the visitors took a 7-3 lead to intermission.
Gibson and Bennett traded goals in the first five minutes of the second half, but Carthage scored five straight in just under 10 minutes to put the game out of reach at 13-4 with 13 minutes left. Five different Lady Reds found the net during the run.

Sandra Pielechaty (Taft HS, Chicago, Ill.) closed out Augustana's scoring. Bowman's fourth of the game and 38th of the season with 54 seconds left accounted for the final.

Soodan and Gibson added three goals apiece for the Lady Reds and McNamara recorded five saves.
Carthage outshot the Vikings 34-20, while Augustana had a 15-14 edge in ground balls. The hosts had 18 turnovers to a dozen for the Lady Reds.
On Tuesday, April 24, Augustana is back at Thorson-Lucken Field to host Dubuque beginning at 7:00 p.m.
