setback at Carroll.

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Unbeaten Carroll scored five straight first-half goals Saturday on its way to a 10-5 win over Augustana at Schneider Stadium. The Vikings fell to 6-6 on the season and 0-3 in the CCIW, while the Pioneers improved to 13-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.

Augustana struck first when junior Christina McCabe (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.) scored less than a half-minute in. However, Carroll answered with five consecutive goals. Courtney Karis scored off a Michaela Johnson assist with the Pioneers a player up at 26:22 of the first half to tie it. Her unassisted goal 14 seconds later put her team on top.

A goal by Betty Koenig and two by Johnson made it 5-1 before junior Carla Bennett (Marian Catholic HS, South Holland, Ill.) scored with 8:52 left in the half. Carroll took the 5-2 advantage to intermission.

Junior Bailey Aasen (Park HS, Cottage Grove, Minn.) pulled Augustana to within 5-3 with a man-up, free position goal three minutes into the second half, but Clara Jelacic responded with two goals over the next four minutes to push the lead back to four.

Junior Emily Lucnik (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) and McCabe tallied the Vikings' last two goals. Johnson's fourth of the game, with 2:24 to play, closed out the afternoon's scoring.

McCabe's two goals led Augustana offensively. Senior Annalia Fowler (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) equaled the second-most saves ever by a Viking goalie with 18—one shy of the single-game record she set at Albion earlier this year.

Coach C.J. Durham's crew will be back in action on Wednesday, April 18 at Dubque, with first draw scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
