Shane Forsythe (Maine South GS, Park Ridge, Ill.) scored four goals Saturday to lead Augustana to a 16-5 win over Olivet at Thorson-Lucken Field. The Vikings improved to 2-3 on the season, while the Comets fell to 0-4.
The contest was scoreless for nearly 11 minutes until senior
John Danko (Lockport HS, Lockport, Ill.) scored with Augustana a man up to make it 1-0 with 4:09 left in the first quarter. That started a 4-0 flurry by the hosts to end the period. In the next three minutes, junior
Lee Whorwell (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) parlayed a
Cameron MacKenzie (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.) assist into another man-up goal and Danko scored again to make it 3-0.

(Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.) scored off an assist from freshman
Trever Moore (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) with one second left in the first quarter to put the Vikings up 4-0.
Forsythe scored three times in the second period, as the hosts extended their lead to 9-0 at halftime.
Another Forsythe goal with Augustana on a man advantage made it 10-0 before Cameron Bazin got Olivet on the board at the 11:29 mark of the third quarter. Freshman Joe Kreis
(Mundelein HS, Wauconda, Ill.) added a pair of goals in the period and classmate
Jack Preston (Morton HS, Morton, Ill.) one before Bazin scored again to make it 13-2 after three.
The teams split six goals in the final period, with the Vikings' coming from Preston, Danko and freshman
Matthew Lampasona (Oak Forest HS, Oak Forest, Ill.).
Augustana finished the game with a 65-20 advantage in shots, including 27-11 in shots on goal. The Vikings snared 48 ground balls to 26 for the Comets won 20 of 24 faceoffs and were successful on 20 off 22 clear attempts.
Individually, Danko added three goals to Forsythe's total, while Kreis and Peston had two each. MacKenzie dished out three assists and Moore and Preston had two apiece. Junior
Jason Van Dyck (Crystal Lake South HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) won all seven faceoffs he took and led Augustana with 10 ground balls. Senior
