The visitors got on the board just 28 seconds in. Flower Edington lofted a cross from the far right wing that Augustana keeper Sydney Ion (Aquinas HS, La Crosse, Wis.) got a piece of, but Erin Peck was there to collect the loose ball directly in front of the Viking goal and her boot gave the Titans a 1-0 advantage.
 
That's how the first half would end. IWU outshot its hosts 9-4 in the first 45 minutes, while corners were even at one apiece.
 
In the 56th minute, Titan keeper Kelli McCarthy came out of the goal for a loose ball and was whistled for a foul against Grace Sigler (Rock Island HS, Rock Island, Ill.). Mejia called on senior Abby Wendell (Hersey HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) to take the penalty kick, which she place in the upper right hand corner to level the score.
 
IWU got the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute. After the second of consecutive Rosie Pettenuzzo corners, Ellie Crabtree chased down a loose ball near the top of the 18 and put her shot past Ion to make it 2-1.
 
Augustana got of just one shot the rest of the way, an attempt by freshman Marcela Arreguin (Beloit Memorial HS, Beloit, Wis.) that McCarthy gathered in easily.
 
The Titans finished with 16-7 advantage in shots, putting eight on goal to four for the Vikings. Ion recorded six saves and McCarthy three. IWU also had a 6-1 edge in corners, while fouls were even at 17 apiece.
