CHICAGO, Ill. – Augustana scored the game's first 17 points Saturday and cruised to a 77-51 win over North Park on the road. Coach
Mark Beinborn's Vikings set a school record with 67 rebounds while improving to 12-5 on the season and 5-3 in the CCIW. Their namesakes from NPU fell to 8-9 overall and 3-5 in the league.
Augustana put the contest away early. Junior
Clare Kramer (Prophetstown HS, Lyndon, Ill.), with five points, led six different players who scored in the team's 17-0 run to start the game. A Shaylee Sloan put-back finally got NPU on the board with 3:03 left in the first quarter, but the visitors didn't let up.
Scooter Lopez's
(Mountain Vista HS, Highlands Ranch, Colo.) three-pointer eventually extended the lead to 29-4 before a Samantha Bloom trey made it 29-7 after one period. Junior

North Park scored the first six points of the second period, but
Meghan Stovall (Broomfield HS, Broomfield, Colo.) hit a three-pointer that sparked a 14-0 Augustana run. Kramer had three consecutive buckets, including a three-pointer, and sophomore
Alexis Jones (Marist HS, Chicago, Ill.) finished off the spurt with two field goals to make it 43-13. Augustana eventually took a 47-19 lead to the halftime break.
Beinborn's crew limited its hosts to .147 shooting from the field in the first half, as North Park hit just five of 34 shots. Augustana also piled up a 37-22 advantage on the boards.
The guests kept their hosts at bay in the second half. A
Mia Lambert (Macomb HS, Macomb, Ill.) layup with 7:57 to play gave Augustana its biggest lead of the night at 67-35 and the closest North Park would get was 24 points (71-47) with 3:15 to play.
Augustana finished the night 35 of 84 (.417) from the field and five of 14 (.357) from three-point range. Beinborn's bunch was an uncharacteristic two of 10 (.200) from the foul line. North Park converted just 16 of 68 (.235) shots from the floor and five of 17 (.294) from three-point range. The hosts were 14 of 20 (.700) from the foul line. Augustana grabbed 67 rebounds, surpassing the previous school record of 64 snared against Immaculata on November 22, 2004. NPU collected 41 boards and each team committed 20 turnovers.
Individually, Kramer had 14 points and seven rebounds in just 15 minutes. Roberts had 12 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Jones had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lopez had game highs of nine assists and five steals.
The Vikings return to Carver Center on Wednesday, January 24 to host Wheaton, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
