HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover got on the board in the 36th minute Sunday and went on to a 3-1 victory over Augustana. The Vikings fell to 2-2 on the year, while the Panthers improved to 4-1.

After getting off six shots in the first 26 minutes, Hanover went up 1-0 on Maisyn Garland's goal in the 36th. Natalie Fausz hit Brandi Brock with a cross and Brock found Garland, who went lower right for the score. Both Fausz and Brock were credited with assists on the play.

Panther keeper Emma Debolt turned away a shot by sophomore Brandie Minogue (Crystal Lake South HS, Crystal Lake, Ill.) in the 41st minute and the teams went to the locker room with the hosts leading 1-0.

The second half started quietly offensively, with just one combined shot in the first 19 minutes. However in minute 65, Claire Stockwell converted a penalty kick and Hanover led 2-0.

Senior Mady Huber (Legacy HS, Broomfield, Colo.) beat Debolt to her lower left to get Augustana on the board in the 67th minute, but the Panthers answered less than five minutes later when Sydney Mattingly converted a Cassidy Evanson assist to make it 3-1.

The Vikings got off two shots the rest of the way. Senior Grace Iaquinta (Lincoln East HS, Lincoln, Neb.) had her attempt sail high in the 76th minute and classmate Sammi Farkos (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) had hers blocked in the 88th.

Hanover finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. The Panthers took the only two corners of the match.

Senior Bailey Bradford (Deerfield HS, Deerfield, Ill.) went the distance in goal for Augustana, recording three saves. Debolt had one save.
