Vikings 18-2 defeat at the hands of Aurora on Saturday, April 8.
AURORA, Ill. – Aurora scored the first 10 goals of the game and went on to an 18-2 non-conference men's lacrosse victory over Augustana on Saturday, April 8 in Aurora, Illinois. The Spartans jumped in front 7-0 after the first period and led 12-1 at halftime.
The score of 10-0 in favor of the home team before the Vikings could get a score from junior
Nick Zielinski (Huntley HS, Huntley, Ill.). That came with 3:41 left in the second quarter.
The other Augustana score came in the third quarter with 4:10 left when senior
Jared Hawkins (Everett HS, Everett, Wash.) tallied off an assist from sophomore
Nick Gallo (Maine South HS, Park Ridge, Ill.).
The two teams were actually even in shots taken as each club had 43. Aurora grabbed a 39-23 advantage in ground balls and won 17 of 24 face-offs.
Augustana, now 5-7 overall, is in action again on Wednesday, April 12 in Bloomington, Illinois for a 7:00 p.m. face-off with Illinois Wesleyan.
